Very nice town. Sitting & looking out at the water, taking a ride on the ferry, or just walking around is very peaceful. Their July celebration is very festive. I enjoyed my visit.
Very well preserved. Bill did a great job with overview. Note: lots of walking from dock along pier. 2.5 football fields in length
Great little trip over to Pea Patch Island and the fort. Ghost tours are awesome.
About once an hour they they have great educational, very interesting programs.
Overall it is a great experience! I would definitely recommend to visit the fort!
The fort is on the Pea Patch Island. You'll need to take a ferry. The cost of the ferry is $12 for adults, parking and entrance to the fort are free. Take with you water, bug spray, sunscreen, maybe some food (you won't be able to buy it there).
Very interesting place if you like history and weaponry. The building itself tells a lot about the American civil war and also about the first and second world wars. The staff is helpful and knows lots of historical details. They show in depth how each weapon works and what was their role in war. The ferry is also really quick and it is really easy to park around the pier.
